Hello! Little cutie
I am Comic Black Rainbow.
Whether people are beginners or have been drawing for a while, basically, they are troubled by the painting of the head and face.
After all, what we draw most often are people.
Among the figures, the face is the most complex, so many cuties always get frustrated at the stage of drawing faces.
So today I want to use 3 simple techniques to help you draw faces and no more feel overwhelmed
Because drawing a face is not as difficult as you think.
As long as you can practice some techniques and get the hang of it, it will become easier to draw your character's face from any angle!
Today I will also use Clip studio paint to demonstrate.
Clip studio paint has super convenient painting auxiliary tools that can help us when drawing and angling the face
It's faster, easier, more convenient, and simpler!
damn! I seem to be addicted to Clip studio paint🤣🤣🤣

Simple proportions of the face
First of all, we must first understand the basic relative proportions of the facial features. After understanding the basic relative proportions of the facial features, we will have a basis for trying to draw from various angles, and we will know how to draw the face and end up drawing a scary monster!
But because the proportions of facial features are complicated and can be very professional and in-depth, here, to allow you to quickly and easily draw faces from various angles, we will use a simpler relative proportion of facial features to explain!

First, we draw a cross line in the center of the circle. The horizontal line of the cross line is the position of our eyebrows. Then the straight lines in the upper and lower halves are divided into three equal parts. The top 1/3 is the hairline, and the bottom 1/3 is the bottom of the nose. Finally, add another 1/3 of the length at the bottom of the circle, which will be our chin. After the relative proportions of the positions of these facial features are grasped, you can start trying to use this proportion with the following techniques to draw the head at various angles!

Technique 1. Sliced sphere + hanging jaw
We can simply regard the human head as a sphere with a thin slice cut on the left and right sides. The center point of the circular plane of the slice on the left and right sides is hung with the lower jaw of our face. This is the simple structure after we simplify the human head.

We can first try to draw the volume of such a structure using several different angles.

Next we can mark the relative proportions of the facial features that we just learned.

Then directly use the faces at various angles we have drawn to draw the face angles we want to draw! You can watch the teaching video directly during the painting process, and when drawing the details of the facial features, you can still make some adjustments according to your own creative needs.

Isn't it amazing?
This method simplifies the human head and adds the relative positions of the facial features, which can serve as the basis for us to depict the facial features from various angles! Using this method, our minds will no longer be blank when we want to draw faces from various angles!
Technique 2. Sphere + a piece of paper
After we have looked at the first technique for drawing faces at various angles, I want to introduce you to the second technique for drawing faces at various angles! In this second technique, we will simplify the structure of the face even more than in the first technique! I believe you have guessed it after reading the title, that's right! Just wrap half of a sphere with a piece of paper!
To make this sphere half-wrapped by paper closer to the proportions of human facial features, we can make the height of the paper equal to 7/6 of the diameter of the sphere. Then we can try to use this simplified structure of a human head to draw different angles!

Next, we can draw several different angles based on this structure.

And mark the relative proportions of the facial features.

At this time, we can follow the previous technique and directly draw the details of the facial features on these simplified head structures at different angles!

You can also watch the teaching video directly during the painting process! This way, even if you don't have any reference pictures, you can pick up the drawing tools and draw faces from various angles. When you first start practicing, you may find it a little difficult because you have never tried to draw in this way, but don't worry, as you practice more and more, you will slowly get the hang of it! If you also want to draw faces from various angles more easily and quickly, then you must not miss the third technique!

Tip 3. Clip studio paint 3D auxiliary tool
I think this is the biggest reason why many people use Clip studio paint, because its auxiliary functions are great! In the past, learning to draw figures might require being proficient in human anatomy, muscles, perspective, etc. For many people, this is an endless amount of professional knowledge to learn. Even if you learn it, you may not be able to draw it without enough practice. Therefore, many drawing auxiliary software and tools are constantly being innovated as people's demand for images in life increases! Now, you don’t even need 3D software or special 3D materials. Just use Clip studio paint and use the built-in or 3D auxiliary tools shared by other creators to help you quickly draw faces from various angles! So let's take a look at how to use this 3D painting auxiliary tool!
First of all, because the built-in 3D character model of Clip studio paint is mainly full-body, I recommend that you download a 3D head model provided by the creator, which will be convenient for you if you want to directly draw facial features. Of course, please note that this 3D auxiliary tool can only be used in Clip studio paint! It cannot be used in other painting software, so if you also want to use this convenient painting auxiliary tool quickly, of course you have to buy and use Clip studio paint!

After downloading this 3D face model, we can arrange the face angle we want to draw at will, and then refer to the 3D face model to draw the character we want to draw!
The advantage of a 3D face model is that it already has a muscular feel, so even if you are a beginner in painting and don't know much about facial muscles and features, you can still get started quickly! You may find that during the painting process, even with references, I will still adjust some details to be different from the reference pictures. The reason is that even if you have a reference, you still have to make adjustments based on your creative needs. How to adjust to be closer to your creative needs requires long-term practice and painting, and you will slowly know it!

So the teaching is all here.
All you have to do now is pick up your painting tools and try drawing!
You may encounter some difficulties in the process of drawing at the beginning, maybe you're not used to it or not drawing smoothly.
But it doesn't matter.
After practicing several times according to the method in the video, you'll get the hang of it slowly!
